According to State Farm, these are the items you’ll want to have on hand for emergency roadside preparedness:

Do you have these items in your vehicle? Having had a few breakdowns myself, I can tell you firsthand how important it is to have these supplies on hand! Additionally, consider these not-quite-essential essentials that can make a roadside breakdown a little more tolerable:

  1. Have you ever had a roadside emergency? I’ve only had two roadside emergencies. Both times I landed in the ditch in snow, one of which was down a large hill embankment.
What in the State Farm roadside emergency kit would have helped you? Considering that I was stuck in the snow and wouldn’t have been able to get out without a tow-truck the only thing I can see that would have been awesome to have is a non-perishable snack.

  2. What I learned from State Farm: They do life insurance. I honestly did not know that. I knew they did boat, car, and motorcycle but not life.

  3. Yes I’ve had a roadside emergency. The gloves and flashlight would’ve come in handy.

Yes I have had a roadside emergency where I was stuck in a ditch on the expressway during the winter. The flashlight and snack bars would have helped. Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway!

I have experienced quite a few roadside emergencies. One was yesterday with a flat tire. I have never thought to get a kit for my car and really need one after yesterday’s event. That is at the top of my list and I appreciate your article full of great information.
I never knew that State Farm had so much available to it’s customers. Will need to check them out more!

The item that is most helpful is the jumper cables. This is the item that we have needed most and the item that other people stranded need.

Other than having my battery die on the highway I haven’t had any emergency but all of it would have helped! I was so scared and I had my newborn with me!

State farm has a good drive safe and save deal!

  10. We had a road side emergency… while traveling to a busy city outside of our own in my sister-in-law’s vehicle, we blew a tire while in the inside lane of a very busy 6 lane interstate. We had our three kids in the backseat and they were getting freaked out when 18 wheelers went by and rocked the truck. The granola bars and water would have been great for them! The bag itself would have been handy to hang on the bag of the vehicle to let others know we were having a problem.

No, I have never had a kit before. I would include some hot chocolate, a metal cup, and some protein bars– a space saver blanket would be nice too.

I like the Identity Theft Insurance.

  19. Yes I had a very scary emergency when the fuel filter clogged the gas line and shut the car down. I coasted almost off the road but not quite. I would have felt a lot safer if I had the bag with the triangular sign to warn approaching cars.

  20. I learned that State Farm offers Boat Insurance and Health insurance. I only knew about auto insurance.

No, I have never had a roadside kit. I think a flashlight or flares would be good to signal for help.
